The studio room

The teaching space at 5 Canal Road is a single long room divided by an acoustic curtain: one side for lessons, one for independent practice when booked. Walls carry fabric panels tuned for violin frequencies; the floor is sprung timber with a low pile rug under the teacher desk.

Equipment includes a concert stand, foot chart for posture checks, metronome, and tuning fork. Humidity is monitored โ€” Wellington winters can dry cases quickly, so we keep a hygrometer visible and share seasonal care notes with enrolled students.

Hourly hire is available weekdays 10:00โ€“16:00 when lessons are not scheduled. Hire includes stand light and chair; rosin and spare strings are sold at the desk.

Enrolled students receive a door code after their third lesson. Hire guests sign in at the clipboard and agree to leave the room swept and quiet. We ask that amplified playback use headphones so neighbouring desks stay focused.

The alcove shelf holds urtext miniatures and Wellington composer pamphlets; borrow during your session and return before leaving. If you need a piano pitch reference, a digital keyboard in the back corner is tuned monthly.
