House of Isle Puma

VIOLIN

A single-instrument studio for adults who want bow weight, left-hand clarity, and repertoire that rewards patience — not rush.

Private tuition

Forty-five minute lessons on Canal Road with scale arcs, étude cycles, and short repertoire blocks. Returning players welcome; we diagnose tension before adding speed.

Ensemble reading

Monthly chamber evenings for confident sight-readers. Parts are emailed ahead; attendance capped so every desk can hear the room.

Studio hire

Acoustic-treated practice room with adjustable stand light. Book by the hour for personal rehearsal between lessons.

Instrument care

Basic setup checks: bridge alignment, string height notes, and humidity guidance for Wellington flats. We refer major repairs to trusted luthiers.

Term calendar

Four terms per year aligned with local holidays. A term holds ten lessons; mid-term entry prorated when space allows.

What we omit

No children-first programmes, no exam-factory pacing. Adults set goals; we shape a path that respects weekday work schedules.

About the house

House of Isle Puma occupies a converted shopfront on Canal Road where harbour wind meets brick warmth. Founder Mara Pellini built the studio after years in orchestra desks — she wanted a room where adult learners could hear themselves honestly without conservatory pressure.

Lessons emphasise contact point and release. Students bring notebooks; we mark bowings and fingerings in pencil so scores stay legible for years. The waiting alcove holds a small library of urtext editions and Wellington composer pamphlets.
